PM naavey ippadi thaanah ???


This blog is not for one who can be referred as an ideal manager !


My intention of writing this blog is not to hurt any project manager....But I really don't understand what a PM wants out of their Team members....


Let me tell you couple of points that would clear my points....


We as a team work in a support project and my PM sends us an email by 9 AM IST to everyone for some info that requires every one's reply...He never cares about the time factor.....Be it a 4 AM @ London or 10 PM @ New York,,,,, He replies to everyone by 10 AM IST asking " Y? There is no reply from none for 1 hr ". Our PM knows that the information has to be submitted to management and he knows that well in advance...As bcoz he was lethargic, he did mailed us at the last moment and never gave us anytime to respond... If he had done his thing properly he wouldn't have come to us at the neck of the moment and eat our head...

This kinda of mail repeats for few days....What would be the mind set of the ppl after these many mails ??? Wait...You will know when u completely read this blog....


There was a critical situation and one fellow from the team consolidated the list of concerns that prevails in the project..and he sent it to our PM and everyone was expecting a reply...there was no reply for 1 day...someone from the team called up to know the status....So called PM told him that he will get back to us after consulting with management....Days passed away but these poor fellows are still waiting for a reply.....!!!


Now coming back to the point....Is there any rule that only Managers can question and not the team members ??? Is that only the team members should reply in time or Is there any policy written which says that the PM can reply whenever they wanted to leaving team members in vain....


This leads to lots of tension within the team and morality of the team members goes down which literally affects the project's performance...If he is an ideal manager he would have thought about these things and he would have corrected himself...which he didn't do for close to 1 year now....

In this situation....What should I do ??? Get out of this project or the company ????


I guess...Many ppl would have come across the same situation and I know ppl yelling at their PM's for their way of handling the ppl.....I guess...Any PM who read this should think about it....And any team member who would become a PM in the future should think about the team members situation before questioning with dozen of rockets !!!
